The food and service here are both excellent, but unfortunately, I will not be returning because of how hot it is inside of the restaurant. The past few times I’ve visited, the temperature inside has been extremely uncomfortable. It’s difficult to enjoy a meal when it is warm, and it also seems uncomfortable for the employees working there. I enjoy the food, but until the temperature issue is addressed, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Cute place with good service. The food was just so so. The salad felt more like cereal, the lettuce was swimming in liquid, and not the ginger dressing, but water. The makis were rather one note and 3 different rolls all tasted pretty much the same despite different fish and other ingredients.

Went to Oyama today for first time with my husband and two of our adult children and everything was excellent. I have been to probably every sushi restaurant in central IL and this is my new favorite. I got the Sushi lunch special that is 5 pieces of chef choice Nigiri and a California roll. First thing I noticed was the Nigiri was not over loaded with rice which I LOVED because I really only want the rice so it soaks up the soy sauce and wasabi for extra flavor as I also love sashimi but obviously sashimi does not soak up soy and wasabi well to add that extra kick. Also the Nigiri was topped with huge pieces of beautiful fresh fish!! The California roll also was not over powered with rice and had plenty of the crab and vegetables. I also had the steamed Shumai for an appetizer which was bursting with flavor and the delish clear/onion soup. All perfection! Our waiter was beyond amazing and attentive. I really wish they did delivery app options as I work from home and would be ordering their sushi weekly! 100% my new favorite and sad it took me this long to try them.

This place easily ranks among the best sushi spots in the Midwestβ€”especially outside a major city. Every bite tasted incredibly fresh, and you can tell they take real pride in their ingredients. The seafood soup absolutely stole the showβ€”rich, flavorful, and something I’d come back for on its own. Already planning my next visit!

This is my second time visiting and there were several years between but I can say confidently that both times I had a positive experience. It is on the pricey side but your get what you pay for. Everything is fresh, it came out fast and I have really no notes on what I experienced. Our waiter was lovely and attentive. All and all a lovely experience and I will be back if I'm ever in the area. I especially reccomend the sunshine role and the udon.
